Giving People A Chance
I think the difference between the rich and the poor is that when you are rich, you do not need people to give you a chance. You come from a good family, good education, and probably have connections all around the city and companies in which you want to step into.
When you are poor, every field you step into whether it be college, dating a girl, or a job there is a degree in which they size you up. They look at your track record and because your family didn't have much, you may not have as much to show for it.
Honestly its not about being rich or poor but its about a track record. Having a good start really helps you consistently run through the gates thus opening more doors for people.
I have never had the most amazing track records. Sometimes you just need a chance to prove that you are capable. Someone took a chance on me by letting me in Berkeley despite my average sat score and decent grades. Someone took a chance on me as a boyfriend considering my wake of broken hearts. And someone will have to take a chance on me with my career, because I am jumping verticals and do not have the experience in my new field.
First impressions are actually one of my strengths, but my resume in life is not up to par yet. It does not shine on its own. I believe I always shine when I get there, but just because I see it doesnt mean they do.
I promise that when I make it towards the top of my career, I will give others a chance because I at this moment I know what it means to be a risky bet.

Well said. :)
I know you'll do well~ and don't forget to give everyone a chance!
Loved this post. I think more people needs to remember that not all people are born on the same playing field.
Good luck on your chance....
*hugs*
If you have time for TV, I really enjoy watching "Suits." The show starts with someone giving another person a shot.
I think the difference between the rich and the poor come down two things we all live by--time and money. Richer people who can afford to do it all are stressed, because they never have the time to do it all. Poorer folks, on the other hand, are more likely to complain about lack of money than the lack of time. But regardless of either situation you're in, strategically networking with people greatly improves your chances of getting yourself that coveted opportunity.
I relate to this post quite strongly. Numbers and past "history" are sometimes a way to gauge a person, but impressions and intuition mean a hell of a lot more.
@suuperstar - RIGHT?!?! Hmph... lets be friends!
@aPieceOfTheSky - thanks for the comment.
@MariaBoscardin - i heard that show is really really good
@Sheegwa - i don't know, I always feel like i never have time for anything and my husband is always complaining that he spends all his time working and never gets to enjoy life. When your time isn't worth much at work, it feels like you never have enough of it as well.
